Blood-spill Averted Between Rivalry Protest Groups

It was almost like the Clash-of-Titans yesterday 11th August, 2017 when Pro-Buhari support group (Centre for Civil  Society and Justice) demonstrating support for Buhari and another group (coalition of Civil Society Organisations)  campaigning for the President’s immediate resumption of office or resignation, met at Abuja while both parties were rallying with their conflicting ideology. The immediate intervention of the Nigerian Police Force was a commendable move as it averted the calamity that would have befalls the Nigerian society as a result of this conflict.

The Centre for Civil Society and Justice campaigning with the theme; “Our Mumu Don Do” led by Nigerian Celebrity and Activist, Charly Boy has been carrying out a campaign for the president to resign or resume office at the Unity Fountain since Monday 7th August, 2017. The protest which has attracted other groups apart from the “Our Mumu Don Do” campaigners, also involves a group led by Deji Adeyanju, former social media director of the People Democratic Party (PDP), “Concerned Nigerians” group as likeminded team since three months ago. While the pro-Buhari groups began their solidarity and support match for the President on Thursday, 10th August, 2017. The president has been on medical vacation for more than 96 days.

The two opposing groups met at the Unity Fountain on Friday, and the hell was almost loose between the two before the police intercept.
It was reported that the Pro-Buhari group met the "Resume or Resign" campaigners at the Unity Fountain and taunted them with chants like, "Buhari kills corruption".
This is coming a day after President Buhari's Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, branded the protesters
...an illegal assembly stealthily organised to deliver a blow to the war against corruption.
The “Resume or Resign” campaigners were attacked by the police on Tuesday, August 8, when officers fired gas canisters and water cannons that lead to many injured or hospitalised.

Most of 8th August protesters that were injured had to be rushed to the Federal Staff Clinic Federal Secretariat, while Charles Oputa also fainted as a result of the police officers action.

The group were not discouraged by the attack by the police, they rather continue their protest against the president on Wednesday 9th August and 10th August respectively.

The protesters' full demands are:
...that the president either personally or through his aides make the true detail of his health known to all Nigerians; that president should address all Nigerians in a language we can all understand on the true state of his health and other national issues; that he returns to the country and resume work as president of Federal Republic of Nigeria in order to lead us out economic and security quagmire we have been pushed into as a nation; if President Buhari fails, refuses and/ or neglect to do any of the above , then he should  resign from office; if he fails to honourably resign, then he should be impeached from office by the national assembly.
President Buhari left the country on May 7 to resume treatment for an undisclosed illness in London, leaving Acting PresidentYemi Osinbajo in charge of the country's affairs.
77 days after he left the country, pictures of President Buhari finally surfaced online when he met with state governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on July 23, at the Abuja House in London.
Since then, he has met with another delegation of Nigerian governors, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, as well as the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

Earlier, on Sunday, 6th August, 2017, Aisha Buhari, the wife of the president travelled to London to meet with her husband, ahead of his return. It was reported in many sector that the president and his team have insisted that is return soon but however refused giving appropriate day for Nigerians as the day the Buhari will return.
